Ok, which bright spark had both the city universities go back on the same day? And who ordered rain, delayed trains and traffic chaos for the same day.

I was planning to go to one of the O-week free concerts but by the end of my shift standing in a windy damp concrete courtyard had precisely no appeal. Even though I adore Good Night Nurse, it just wasn't enough to hang around for.

So I stomped on down the hill to the expensive department store and drifted round the cosmetics counters for half an hour instead. Found an absolutely gorgeous foundation that maybe a replacement for the one I loved but I am still undecided about spending $74 on make up!

My shoulders are still playing up and work has been insane and will remain so for at least another fortnight until the students all get their individual and collective acts together. I have promised myself that tonight come hell or high water I will be playing EQ2 even if it is just for an hour so I better get away from this computer now.

Now the difficult decision, more David Attenborough documentaries or a book, or maybe I will read and put "Jazz on a Summer's Day" on in the background.
