30/10/2005 - 10:06 a.m. There is a very simple definition of insanity - going and doing an event when you have done no training - as in haven't run other than 30 seconds bursts for over 5 months. But on the theory that RPM and walking to work should give me enough cardio base, 7am this morning saw me in the milling hoards at the start of the Adidas 10k event. This is part of the set of races they run in conjunction with the marathon. The 10k goes out for 5km along the marathon course then turns back. As I was slogging somewhere past 6km heading back into town the first of the marathon runners came streaming past, going faster than I have ever gone in my life despite the fact they had just run 26 kilometres and had the same again to go. I felt VERY slow!! I finished in 1:14ish which wasn't bad for untrained and having an upset stomach which had necessiated walking most of the way from 7km. I felt brilliant after my detox but as soon as I added wheat and dairy back into the diet I felt icky. So I now face going gluten and yeast free as well as egg free. I can have a little yoghurt but any other dairy will have to go too. Anyone got any good soda bread recipes? I will be working 6 days next week as we are struggling for staff till our students finish exams and can work more hours. Fun and games. Bels
