27/03/2008 - 3:48 p.m. Got in to work today to find the supervisor wasn't there. Had to call teh store maanger as I didn't know wehre the contact list was to call the missing shifty. All the while thanking my liucky stars the food guy was running late and had been able to let me into the store. Between myself and the 6am girl we get the store open and start putting out the food before the boss is able to get there. Well the boss walks in and starts telling us off. I haven't ever set up our food case just the one in the store I trained at. Ours is different and you do things a little bit differently. I had everything in the right place and got out the stuff we sell most of in the morning, which was the way that made sense to me. if the lunch stuff isn't out who cares at 6am, get the breakfast stuff out first. But no I got told off. Then he had a go at the otehr girl because she'd missed a few things in the bar set up. Then another go because she didn't know how to handle the rush. Well, hello, she only usually works register when it is busy so of course she doesn't know. Told him off firmly but politely as I was hanging tough on bar through the next rush. To add insult to injury we are normally dead from 6 - 7 am. Not this morning. Oh and we kept finding yoghurt cleverly disguised as non-fat milk! I was so livid it wasn't funny. By 8am i was just about ready to cry, or quit. Would it kill him to acknowledge our efforts? To cut us a little slack on a tough morning? Yeah, he got woken up and had to come in on short notice, we understand. But hey, we got the store open, we didn't lose any sales. We gave it our absolute best shot. Oh and how come I am the one who knows where the 6am girl is strong and weak? Isn't that his job? The only upside was that the spouse took me out for coffee and listened to me rant! I feel much better now! Bels
