Picked up one of my new books that I am not currently reading and started reading the first chapter. I keep forgetting Micheal King grew up not far from where I did. While he was st school in the '50s I can hear echoes of my own Irish Catholic childhood of the 1970s in his descriptions of growing up. I'm not sure now why I didn't pick up "Paheka New Zealanders" ahead of "The New Zealand Wars" but I am really really looking forward to reading the former when I finish the latter.

I am going to have ask teh assistant store manager (ASM) who writes the roster if he can give me one set day off during the week. For the purely selfish reason of wanting to know which day is going to be "long run day'. Yep time to start gearing up for the half marathon. Though I keep toying with the idea of training for a marathon. But I think I need a more settled job for that to be a sensible idea!
